Sizing guide

Do you want to connect your LavaBox directly to your external RV propane? This is the perfect hose to do it. You can now use the quick connect port on the side of your rig to our regulator. This will allow you to sit by the fire and away from your RV. Best part? You don't need to carry another propane tank!

What's Included: 15 ft Male QC to Male QCC1 connection.

RV Compatibility & Pressure Guide

Connector Type

This hose uses a Male Quick Connect (QC) fitting on one end and a Male QCC1 (Type 1 acme) fitting on the other. The QCC1 end connects to your LavaBox regulator. The QC end connects to your RV's external propane quick-connect port — the same style port found on most modern Class A, B, and C motorhomes and many fifth wheels and travel trailers.

Before purchasing, confirm your RV has an external quick-connect port. Not all RVs include one — check your owner's manual or the exterior compartment near your propane tank bay.

Regulator Behavior

Your LavaBox ships with its own two-stage regulator, which is designed to work with a standard 1 lb. disposable canister or a 20 lb. tank delivering regulated propane at approximately 11 inches of water column (≈ 0.4 PSI). When connected to your RV's onboard system, the LavaBox regulator is still in the line — the RV system's pressure feeds into it as the upstream source.

Because your RV already regulates pressure at the coach level, the output your LavaBox receives depends on your RV's regulator setting. Most RV systems deliver 11 in. W.C. (≈ 0.4 PSI) at the appliance connection, but this varies by manufacturer and rig configuration.

Pressure Expectations

  • ~11 in. W.C. (≈ 0.4–0.5 PSI): Normal operating range for most RVs. Expect a flame height of approximately 1 foot.
  • Lower pressure (some older or smaller rigs): Flame height will be reduced. At 0.5 PSI, expect roughly a 1-foot flame — this is normal and safe, but the fire will appear smaller than when run from a dedicated tank.
  • Results vary from RV to RV. Each make runs at its own pressure. Test your setup before your trip to calibrate expectations.

Setup Steps

  1. Confirm your RV has an external quick-connect port and that your propane supply valve is open.
  2. Connect the Male QC end of the hose to your RV's quick-connect port. You should hear/feel a click when it seats.
  3. Connect the Male QCC1 end to your LavaBox regulator — hand-tighten only (left-hand thread: turn clockwise to loosen, counter-clockwise to tighten).
  4. Place your LavaBox at least 10 feet from the RV before lighting.
  5. Open the LavaBox valve slowly and ignite using your preferred method.
  6. Observe flame height. If the flame is lower than expected, this is normal for lower-pressure RV systems — do not attempt to adjust or bypass the regulator.

Troubleshooting

  • No flame or very faint flame: Check that the RV propane supply valve is fully open and that the QC connection is fully seated. Also verify there is propane in your RV tank.
  • Flame is shorter than expected: This is typical at 0.5 PSI. It is a function of your RV's system pressure, not a defect in the hose or LavaBox.
  • Smell of gas without ignition: Close all valves immediately, disconnect the hose, ventilate the area, and do not attempt to re-light until the source is identified.
  • Hose won't connect to RV port: Confirm your RV port uses a standard ACME/QC fitting. Some RVs use proprietary connectors — consult your RV dealer.
  • Hose won't connect to LavaBox regulator: Confirm you are using the LavaBox regulator (QCC1 inlet). This hose is not compatible with POL-style regulators.

⚠️ Safety Reminder: Results may vary from RV to RV. Each make runs at its own pressure, some as low as 0.5 PSI, which will affect how your LavaBox burns. Never attempt to modify, bypass, or adjust the regulator to increase flame height. Always operate the LavaBox in a well-ventilated outdoor area and keep it away from the RV and other flammable materials.
